The Constitution of India (25th Amendment) Act, 1971
Another amendment was made in the Constitution of India.
By this amendment, Article 31 was amended to look into the matter of nationalization of banks.
In view of the judicial interpretation of the word ‘compensation’ as ‘adequate compensation’, the word ‘compensation’ was replaced by the word ‘compensation’.
Indian Constitution Article 25 freedom of conscience and freedom to freely practice, conduct and propagate religion
1) Subject to public order, morality and health and other provisions of this Part, all persons shall have equal right to freedom of conscience and to freely practice, conduct and propagate religion.
(2) Nothing in this article shall affect the enforcement of any existing law or prevent the State from making any law which —
(A) regulates or prohibits any economic, financial, political or other temporal activity related to religious conduct;
(B) Provides for social welfare and reform or to open public-type Hindu religious institutions to all classes and sections of Hindus.
Explanation 1 — Wearing a kirpan and carrying it will be considered as part of Sikhism.
Explanation 2 — In sub-clause (b) of clause (2), the reference to the Hindus shall be construed as including a reference to Sikh, Jain or Buddhist believers and a reference to the religious institutions of the Hindus. Will be levied accordingly.
